Electricity consumers in Ondo and Ekiti states expressed concern about the potential negative effects of a planned two-month power outage.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria announced that critical maintenance work on the 132kV Akure Osogbo transmission line will disrupt power supply to the two states from July 1 to August 31, with daily outages lasting nine hours.
The National Secretary of the Nigeria Electricity Consumer Advocacy Network criticized the lack of consideration for the economic impact on the two states and suggested that the upgrade should have been carried out in phases to minimize disruption.
