American singer and actress Selena Gomez have revealed how she prepared for her role in the new Spanish musical 'Emilia Pérez'.
The pop sensation admitted that she took a hiatus from singing and other hobbies to prepare for her role.
On Sunday, September 1, 2024, Gomez participated in a Q&A session with Emilia Perez's cast at the Telluride Film Festival.
She said, “I stopped working on my music and anything else, and solely focused on this [musical]. Every day, I’d wake up and rehearse the lines over and over again. And I’d call in the middle of the night, my Spanish teacher.”
The 32-year-old singer played the character of Jessi Del Monte in the new musical.
She revealed that singing in the new movie was “therapeutic.”
Netflix released the first trailer for the Spanish-language French film on August 26.
The synopsis for the movie, which also stars Zoe Saldaña, described the film as “an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations.”
