The pre-hearing of the suit filed by Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, against the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, was postponed by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja on Wednesday to Friday, May 19.
The court presided over by Justice Haruna Tsammani, set the date after the petition's parties failed to reach a document agreement, among other things.
Recall that, at the request of the petitioners, the Tribunal last week postponed the pre-hearing session for the case filed by Obi and the LP until May 17.
The LP National leader, Julius Abure, and the party's factional leader, Lamidi Apapa, were both in court on Wednesday, but when the justices came to start the day's proceedings, they likewise declined to accept the party's representation other than Obi.
There was some little drama between the two LP factions over who should go to court.
Lamidi Apapa, the party's interim national chairman, and Dudu Manugu, its national women's leader, attempted to attend on behalf of the LP when the petition was summoned, but the Tribunal declined to accept their appearances.
According to Justice Haruna Tsamani, if two people attend on behalf of LP, their appearances won't be recorded.
