Kylian Mbappe marked his last home appearance for Paris Saint-Germain with a goal, but the Ligue 1 champions suffered a surprising 3-1 defeat to Toulouse on Sunday, despite securing the league title.
Mbappe, who confirmed his departure from PSG via social media on Friday, opened the scoring early in the match, bringing his season tally to 44 goals across all competitions.
However, Toulouse quickly equalized through Thijs Dallinga, capitalizing on a weakened PSG side that featured ten changes from their Champions League semi-final defeat.
Yann Gboho put Toulouse in the lead with a stunning second-half strike, and Frank Magri sealed the victory in stoppage time.
This defeat marked only PSG's second in Ligue 1 this season and they are first since September.
Mbappe's goal added to his club-record tally of 256 goals for PSG since his arrival from Monaco in 2017. His Ligue 1 total of 191 goals places him seventh on the all-time list. Coach Luis Enrique acknowledged Mbappe as a "club legend" despite his young age.
While PSG had already secured their record-extending 12th French title, the celebrations were muted due to the unexpected loss. Mbappe received a mixed reception from the crowd, with some jeers amidst the applause. A giant banner depicting Mbappe was unfurled before the match, highlighting his significance to the club.
The Qatar-owned club's Champions League disappointment means Mbappe will depart without achieving European glory. However, PSG still has the opportunity to complete a domestic treble, as they face Lyon in the French Cup final on May 25th.
