Google is working on integrating its AI assistance with YouTube Music for better search results.
Android Authority contributor Assemble Debug discovered this on Monday when observing a new YouTube Music extension for Gemini within the Google app version 15.17.28.29.arm64.
According to Assemble Debug, the proposed YouTube Music extension for Gemini promises users enhanced music discovery and playback features.
Once activated, the extension will leverage data from users' YouTube Music accounts, including playlists, liked tracks, and playback history.
This information will then be used to deliver personalized search results and recommendations tailored to individual preferences.
Explainig how to access the YouTube Music extension for Gemini, Assemble Debug said it will be available through the 'Extensions' page within the Google app.
Enabled during a search query, the extension will prioritize results from YouTube Music, providing seamless access to the platform's vast music library.
Even for users without the YouTube Music app installed, Gemini will facilitate music playback via the web version of the service.
It's important to distinguish the YouTube Music extension for Gemini from the existing 'Music Provider' feature.
While the extension enhances search results within Gemini using YouTube Music data, the 'Music Provider' feature enables users to designate their preferred music app for general playback on their devices.
This feature was identified within the latest iteration of the Google app, with the extension currently unavailable in Gemini.
