Killing Of Women And Babies Must Stop, Trudeau Tells Netanyahu

POSTED ON November 15, 2023 •   World      BY Segun Adewole

In a stark appeal for an end to the tragic toll on civilians in the Israel-Hamas conflict, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asserted on Tuesday that the killing of "women, of children, of babies" must cease. Speaking at an event in British Columbia province, Trudeau highlighted the global impact of the violence, emphasizing the heart-wrenching testimonials flooding in through various media channels.

"The world is watching, on TV, on social media, we are hearing the testimonies of doctors, family members, survivors, kids who have lost their parents," Trudeau declared, underscoring the urgent need to halt the devastating loss of innocent lives.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu swiftly rebuked Trudeau's stance, vehemently defending Israel's actions. Netanyahu countered, stating, "It is not Israel that is deliberately targeting civilians but Hamas that beheaded, burned, and massacred civilians in the worst horrors perpetrated on Jews since the Holocaust."

Netanyahu placed the blame squarely on Hamas, asserting that the militant group should be held accountable for the civilian casualties. He argued that while Israel strives to keep civilians out of harm's way, Hamas pursues actions that intentionally put them in jeopardy.

"The forces of civilization must back Israel in defeating Hamas barbarism," Netanyahu proclaimed, emphasizing the need for international support in confronting what he characterized as the ruthless tactics employed by the militant group. The exchange highlights the deep divisions in perspectives surrounding the Israel-Hamas conflict, with leaders presenting contrasting narratives on responsibility and the path to resolution.
