FIFA, the organization that oversees football worldwide, has given the United States the right to host an enlarged Club World Cup in 2025 that will feature 32 men's teams.
Gianni Infantino, the president of Fifa, declared that the event will represent "the pinnacle" of top men's club football.
Twelve European teams will participate, including Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester City, who have each won the Champions League three times in the past.
Although the tournament's dates haven't been set, June is the most likely month for play.
Recall that the USA, together with Canada and Mexico, was chosen to co-host the 2026 World Cup.
The World Leagues Forum, however, raised alarm about FIFA's "unilateral" decision to add the new event to the schedule despite the European Club Association's support for the plans.
Saudi Arabia will host the 20th Club World Cup, which will take place from December 12–22, 2023.
The previous contest, which took place in February in Morocco, was won by Real Madrid.
In addition to Brazil, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, the African nation previously hosted the occasion in 2013 and 2014.
