Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has scheduled a hearing on May 8th, 2024, after Epic Games accused Apple of violating a court injunction in court documents cited by RocketParrot.
This injunction comes in the reel of the one issued in 2021, which required Apple to allow developers more freedom to inform users about alternative payment methods within their apps.
Epic Games argues that Apple's recently implemented App Store policies still restrict developers from offering such information. This alleged violation could lead to Apple being held in contempt of court.
During the hearing, both sides will have the opportunity to present their arguments.
The court will specifically focus on Apple's new policies for external links, their commission structure for purchases made outside the App Store, and how developers can communicate with users.
The judge has also ordered Apple to submit a report detailing the development process behind their new commission structure and to make key personnel available for questioning.
This latest development indicates that the fight between Epic Games and Apple is far from over. The upcoming hearing will determine whether Apple has truly adhered to the court's previous decision and brought its App Store policies into compliance.
