The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission has trained electoral officers to be deployed in the August 17 local government elections across the state.
Chairman of the commission, Ahmed Makama, explained that the training became imperative to equip the officers with the needed skills and knowledge to enable them to carry out their assigned responsibilities effectively.
He expressed the commission's readiness to work with all relevant stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives.
He advised officers to make use of the knowledge acquired for the smooth and effective conduct of the polls.
Makama said, "I am happy to report to you that we are set for our Local Government Councils' Election on the 17 of this month. Therefore, we consider it important to train you on your specific responsibilities.
"We are ready to commence the distribution of both sensitive and non-sensitive materials, so I implore you to take your responsibilities seriously for us to deliver."
Makama then used the medium to appreciate political parties and the general public for their support and cooperation with the commission in the preparation of the polls and promised to conduct free and acceptable council polls.
