Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter, Crown Uzama, also known professionally as Shallipopi, has urged his fellow artistes to charge fees according to their worth.
The 24-year-old said this while discussing the hefty prices demanded by Nigerian artistes.
In an interview with News Central TV, the singer stated that an artiste's value is proportional to the success and reach of their work.
While refuting the assumption that Nigerian artistes have been pricing themselves out of the local market, he emphasized that artistes who achieve similar streaming numbers to American artistes should demand equivalent amounts.
Shallipopi said: It depends on your music and where it has gotten, that is what your price is going to be.
“If your music has gotten the same stream as an American artiste, you should be charging the same way they charge but if it’s not up to that you cannot overcharge.”
