Real Madrid emerged victorious from a heart-stopping 3–2 thriller against Borussia Dortmund in the FIFA Club World Cup, securing their spot in the semi-finals after a match brimming with late-game drama.
The Spanish side quickly took charge. G. García netted the opener in the 10th minute, assisted by Arda Güler. Just ten minutes later, F. García doubled the lead with an assist from T. Alexander-Arnold, sending Madrid into halftime with a comfortable 2–0 advantage.
Dortmund came back fighting in the second half, and in the dying moments of the game, M. Beier scored in the 90+2nd minute, igniting hopes for an incredible comeback. However, any thoughts of a complete collapse were quickly quashed as Kylian Mbappé swiftly restored Madrid’s two-goal lead just two minutes later, netting a goal assisted by Güler to make it 3–1.
Dortmund, refusing to give up, saw D. Huijsen receive a card in the 90+6th minute, and Mbappé booked shortly after in a fiery finish. Then, in the 90+8th minute, the tension reached a fever pitch as Dortmund earned a penalty, successfully converted by S. Guirassy, closing the gap to 3–2.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid managed to maintain their lead until the final whistle. With this hard-fought victory, Real Madrid will now take on Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.
