Nigeria and the United States of America have taken significant steps to strengthen their long-standing friendly relations as the 6th Bi-National Commission meeting begins in Abuja, Nigeria.
This meeting aims further to solidify the bond between the two powerful nations.
The Bi-National Commission between Nigeria and the United States was established in 2010 to serve as a platform for enhancing their relations and fostering shared commitment to rapid economic growth, among other important issues.
The 6th meeting session, which commenced on Monday in Abuja, focuses on constructive dialogue and strategic partnership to address common concerns between the two countries.
Participants must engage in brainstorming sessions on national priorities, including the Africa Growth and Opportunities Act (AGOA), cybercrime, security, democracy, good governance, and accountability.
In her opening remarks, the United States Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ms. Molly Phee, emphasized the depth of the ties between Nigeria and the United States and highlighted the wide range of topics to be discussed, such as growth and development, economic prosperity, peace, and security.
She stressed the importance of collaboration on common interests to strengthen the existing relations between the two nations. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, also emphasized the need to enhance bilateral relations in the national interest of both countries.
