The annual prize was created in honour of the former President of the African Development Bank Group, Babacar Ndiaye (1985 - 1995).
The African Development Bank Group (AfDB ) has announced the Equato-Guineanese Presidents Téodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and Congolese Denis Sassou-Nguesso, the winners of the Africa Road Builders Award.
This is for their efforts in the development of road infrastructures in their respective countries.

The bank in a statement seen by RocketParrot, said: In Equatorial Guinea, the selection committee cited the construction of the Malabo-Sipopo and Bata-Mongomo highways as well as the pavement of roads in several other regions of the country. In Congo, it was the Brazzaville-Pointe Noire road that caught the committee's attention.
