Nigerian international Victor Osimhen remains at the center of significant transfer rumors, with Italian Serie A club Juventus poised to intensify their efforts after his successful loan with Turkish Super Lig team Galatasaray.
The Old Lady is among three clubs showing serious interest in the 26-year-old Super Eagles star, who netted an impressive 37 goals and contributed eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, helping Okan Buruk’s team secure both the Turkish Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup in a remarkable double win.
Reports suggest that Juventus attempted to acquire the striker before the transfer window opened, aiming to strengthen their attacking line under permanent manager Igor Tudor for the upcoming season.
Former sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli handled the initial negotiations, but with new director Damien Comolli now in charge, the Turin club is ramping up their attempts to bring Osimhen on board.
Juventus currently leads the chase for Osimhen, but must navigate several obstacles to secure the tall forward from Naples. It is well known that the two-time European champions plan to part ways with Serbian international Dusan Vlahovic to alleviate their wage bill and create necessary funds for Osimhen's transfer.
Additionally, there are discussions surrounding Osimhen’s release clause, set at €75 million. Juventus is reportedly considering alternative financial strategies that could benefit all parties involved.
This wouldn't be the first instance of a player transferring from Napoli to Juventus, as retired Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain made a high-profile switch in July 2016 for £75 million, marking him as the third-most expensive player globally and the priciest South American at that time.
If Juve successfully formulates a deal, they are likely to surpass Galatasaray, who wish to retain Osimhen permanently. The Istanbul club has allegedly presented a highly appealing contract proposal offering between €15 million to €20 million annually in net salary.
Juventus may also outpace Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal, which is not backing down in its pursuit, having prepared an eye-catching salary offer of €50 million per year, even after Osimhen turned down previous overtures two weeks ago.
Premier League champions Liverpool and Manchester United have also expressed interest in the player; however, while Liverpool briefly discussed Osimhen during a recent internal meeting, the Red Devils have been deterred by his £400,000 weekly salary demands, though they remain cautiously optimistic that other performance-related incentives could attract the AFCON silver and bronze medalist.
