Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has candidly shared the challenges he faced, including battles with depression, marital issues, and strained relationships with colleagues in the Nollywood industry, providing insights into his prolonged absence from the screen.

In an illuminating interview on the show "Rubbin’ Minds," hosted by media personality Hero Daniels, Emeka Ike revealed the personal struggles that led to his hiatus from the entertainment scene. The actor disclosed that he grappled with depression stemming from marital issues and chose to withdraw from public view, feeling ashamed about aspects of his life he believed he had fallen short in.

Emeka Ike's marriage, which came to an end on July 13, 2015, following alleged cases of incessant battery, had added to the actor's personal tribulations. During the interview, he delved into the challenges of transitioning from VCD to larger screens, stating that this shift had affected the demand for his talent and that of his colleagues who seemed to have faded from the limelight.

Moreover, Emeka Ike revealed a startling revelation about his time away from the public eye. He disclosed that he faced threats to his life, with both assassins and gunmen targeting him without any apparent reason.

Responding to inquiries about how he managed to overcome these adversities and make a triumphant return, Emeka Ike shared his perspective. "When you realize that they’re actually after you for who you are, you ask yourself, 'What do I do next?'. I just kept doing the things I needed to do properly. I kept working on myself to be who I am now," he stated.

Emeka Ike, having weathered the storms in his personal and professional life, has made a remarkable comeback to the Nollywood industry. He is set to feature in Toyin Abraham’s upcoming movie, 'Malaika,' marking a significant return to the screen for the seasoned actor.
