Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is scheduled to leave Abuja on Sunday night for Dallas, Texas, where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit organized by the Corporate Council on Africa.

Shettima will be joined by other political and business leaders from Africa, the United States, and other regions at the summit, which will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre in Dallas, Texas.

The event will feature plenary sessions, networking business sessions, and high-level dialogues.

This information was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President.

African presidents Joseph Boakai (Liberia), Lazarus Chakwera (Malawi), Joao Lourenço (Angola), Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi (Botswana), and José Maria Neves (Cape Verde) are among those slated to attend the summit, Nkwocha continued. The deputy prime minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Nthomeng Majara, is also anticipated at the meeting.

Shettima is scheduled to give a speech at the Roundtable on African Infrastructure Investment, emphasising impact and returns, in addition to the summit plenary. He will be discussing “transiting from food insecurity to thriving agribusinesses” at a high-level panel discussion on agribusiness.

The Vice President will also chair a session supporting the Invest in Nigeria programme and give a speech at a plenary on Navigating Africa’s Energy Future.

It is anticipated that he will participate in further gatherings and events outside of the summit.
