Google's Gemini Assistant Expands Compatibility to Older Android Devices

Google's Gemini assistant, powered by generative AI, has been serving users for over a year, offering a range of functionalities under various guises such as Bard. 

This was observed by RocketParrot News, in Google's recent update on the Gemini app's listing on the Play Store, indicating compatibility with Android 10 and above. 

Initially available on newer devices, the Android app's accessibility has now broadened to include older phones. 

Previously, the Gemini app was exclusive to devices running Android 12 or higher. 

The latest version of the app uploaded to APKMirror specifies "Android 10+" as the minimum requirement. 

A comparison with an archived version of the listing from April 18 shows a shift from the previous requirement of Android 12. 

Despite Google's Gemini support page still stipulating Android 12 as the minimum requirement, it is anticipated that this information will be revised soon to reflect the expanded compatibility. 

This development is welcomed news for users with older Android devices, offering them another reason to prolong the lifespan of their gadgets.
