14 Students Expelled Over Examination Malpractices In Unilorin

The University of Ilorin in Kwara state has sent back home no fewer than 14 students for their alleged involvement in examination malpractices and misconduct.

The university's Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, made this known in a statement released on Monday.

Among those expelled, the school released about nine names and they were seven final-year students from various departments, while the remaining two were in the 300 and 100 levels respectively.

The expelled students included Lateef Lukman Olayemi, a 500-level Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries student with Matric No:17/10AB029, Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan, a 500-level student of Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development with Matric No:17/10AC462, and Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi, a final year student of CIS/Library and Information Science department with Matric No:20/52HJ070.

Others were Ashekun Oladiji Quadri, a final year student in the department of CIS/Telecommunication Science with Matric No:18/52HP025, Musa Mohammed Asus of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology/Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Matric No:16/30GC073 in 500 level, Ahmed Saddam Opeyemi of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering with Matric No:18/30GN082 in 500 Level, and Ayinla JamiuOlaitan of the Faculty of Life Science and a 400 level student of the department of Zoology with Matric No:17/55EK068.

The rest were Eqwudah Lucky Ojonumba of the Faculty of Education, department of Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies with Matric No:19/25PK049 in 300 level, and Adebisi Janet Bosede, a 100 Level Student from the Faculty of Arts, Linguistics and Nigerian Languages department with Matric No:21/15CB024.

The university's weekly bulletin had published the names of nine of the expelled students, since the Information Unit of the University's Directorate of Corporate Affairs had released their names.

The bulletin stated, "The Vice Chancellor’s approval of their expulsion was sequel to the recommendations of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee at its 219th meeting held on Wednesday and Thursday, January 10 and 11, 2024 respectively."
