According to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), approximately N454 billion in assets belonging to corrupt individuals have been confiscated, forfeited, and detained by the ICPC during the last four years.
This information was presented by Mr. Jude Okoye, Deputy Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, during the just-completed two-day training session for journalists covering the Commission's work.
A breakdown of the recoveries was provided by the Deputy Director, who noted that of the N454.808 billion, N257.492 billion was discovered to be restricted by the ICPC through system analyses of government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The commission also stated that tax intervention helped retrieve N3.540 billion.
The investigation, prosecution, and prevention of corruption offenses are all part of the ICPC's mandate.
