In a recent result forgery controversy, a 19-year-old student Mmesoma Ejikeme has faced with severe criticism.
Ejikeme has been accused by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for allegedly presenting a fake Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.
Initially hailed for achieving a remarkable score of 362, which would make her the highest scorer, JAMB has now refuted the validity of the result she displayed.
JAMB's argument centers on the fact that the slip Ejikeme presented was last used in 2021, and the attached QR code corresponds to the result of Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle, who scored 138.
Ejikeme, in a video released on Monday, maintained her innocence, but the debate continues. JAMB suggests that her result might have been the work of individuals who engage in pranks to impress their friends.
Further investigation into the matter revealed the existence of an application called 'JambFun-Fake Jamb Result Maker' on the Google Play store.
This app enables users to create counterfeit UTME results to deceive others. Upon downloading and opening the app, a mock 'JAMB 2022 UTME Results Notification' slip was discovered.
This slip matched the one presented by Ejikeme and confirms that it is the same slip JAMB discontinued using in 2021.
To test its functionality, the app was filled with sample details to see if it would produce a result similar to the one Ejikeme paraded.
The result obtained confirmed that it is possible to obtain an identical result, although it does not establish that it is the exact app used by Ejikeme.
Additional claims emerged from the public, with individuals sharing similar experiences involving JAMB in the past. For instance, Atung Gerald, a resident of Kaura in Kaduna State, allegedly scored 380 in the UTME exam.
However, when the QR code attached to his result was scanned, it yielded the same information as Ejikeme's result: "11231597AC :: Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle :: 138."
These findings indicate that all the results in question originated from a single source with a unique code that consistently returns the aforementioned details: "11231597AC :: Asimiyu Mariam Omobolanle :: 138." And that source is none other than the 'JambFun-Fake Jamb Result Maker' application.
To further verify this, two original results from applicants who took the 2023 UTME exam were examined. However, when their results were scanned, the codes did not provide any relevant information.
This suggests that the codes attached to genuine 2023 UTME results cannot be deciphered using common QR Code-Barcode Scanners.
As of now, Ejikeme has not altered her position, maintaining her innocence. JAMB continues to assert that a fraudulent act has taken place, but the unfolding events will determine the resolution of this situation.
