Guinness World Records has stated that it will investigate Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak's proof after she completed her cook-a-thon effort after 227 hours of cooking in 10 days.
GWR approved Failatu's record attempt, which competed to dethrone Irish chef Alan Fisher, who dethroned Nigerian chef Hilda Baci as the holder of the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon record in November 2023.
Recall that Irish celebrity chef Alan Fisher dethroned Nigeria's Hilda Baci from her record for the longest individual cooking marathon after clocking in a time of 119 hours and 57 minutes. The record was more than 24 hours longer than the previous one held by Baci, says Guinness World Record in a post on X.
Alan says he decided to attempt to break the record following his frustrations as his restaurant business struggled to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, where many reservations were cancelled.
Failatu began her endeavor on New Year's Day at Tamale's Modern City Hotel and cooked for 227 hours.
Abdul-Razak was said to have cooked a wide variety of foods during the cooking session.
Supporters at the location applauded the milestone as the stopwatch reached the 227th hour on Wednesday.
GWR’s reaction to the marathon session posted on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, “We look forward to reviewing her evidence!”
