The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission,NUPRC, has removed five oil blocks from the 2024 Licensing Round due to legal disputes as investors begin registration.
These blocks, namely PPL3008, PPL3009, PML51, PPL267, and PPL268, are currently under litigation. The decision to remove these blocks was confirmed by the commission.
Originally, these blocks were part of the 12 announced by the NUPRC Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe, at the Miami International Roadshow for the 2024 licensing round.
The NUPRC stated that the assets on offer would be increased due to newly acquired data from Multiclients. Additionally, they indicated that some of the assets should be applied for as a single unit.
However, the commission did not disclose the identities of the litigants or the reasons for the litigation. It was also not clarified whether the affected assets are part of the 17 on offer.
