The sum of N100,000 was given to each of the Nigerian evacuees who arrived back in the nation last night. Additionally, the returnees received 1.5 Gigabytes of data and recharge cards worth N25,000.
On Thursday, May 4, in the early hours of the morning, Sadiya Farouq, the minister of humanitarian affairs, announced these at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
"We are overjoyed to have them today. They went through a really trying time, but we praise Almighty Allah that they are all back in one piece. The most significant aspect is that no lives were lost. All of the work done was not in vain. I want to express my gratitude to every committee member who has worked tirelessly to bring these folks back in a respectful and safe manner. We appreciate the help from the transportation providers.
"There is N100,000 that will take them back to their homes; the Dangote Foundation is supporting this by providing the transportation fee, the dignity kits, as well as 25,000 MTN recharge cards and 1.5 GB of data. To ensure that these Nigerians at least have some comfort when they return home, every effort has been made, and everyone has donated." She stated
