The federal government through the minister of mineral resources, Dele Alake has announced its collaboration with the Enugu State government on the establish of Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO) to oversee mining companies' adherence to environmental regulations in the state.
Dr. Dele Alake made the announcement through his official X account, stating that the collaboration between it ministry and Enugu state government is aimed at boosting the growth of the mining industry in Enugu state which is known for its coal reserves
The minister emphasized the historical importance of Enugu and its potential for economic revival through solid minerals. Governor Mbah and I discussed our joint efforts to ensure that the benefits of the mining sector are shared among all Nigerians now that Enugu has the autonomy to make independent decisions.
Governor Mbah reaffirmed his administration's dedication to tapping into Enugu's abundant mineral wealth in partnership with the Federal Government. This meeting builds upon previous discussions I had with Governors at the Nigeria Governors Forum, where I urged cooperation to enhance the mining sector's development.
Our ongoing dialogue with Governor Mbah is part of our strategy to strengthen collaborations with state governments and create a favorable environment for mining activities nationwide.
