American Actress Gena Rowlands, who was nominated for an Oscar and was most renowned for her work on several films with her husband, director John Cassavetes, has passed away, aged 94.
Her son Nick Cassavetes, who made the announcement on Wednesday, August 14, said her mother had Alzheimer's in 2024.
Both before and after her films with Cassavetes, Gena enjoyed success as an actor.
But the body of works she created with her actor spouse who became a director ultimately came to define her career.
Rowlands played a series of groundbreaking roles, including in Faces (1968), Minnie and Moskowitz (1971), A Woman Under the Influence (1974), Opening Night (1977), Gloria (1980), and Love Streams (1984).
