Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Funke Akindele has revealed that her next movie, a spin-off from the Jenifa series called "Everybody Loves Jenifa," will hit theaters in December.
Akindele shares the news on her Instagram, "Been long you saw Jenifa!".
Although the film's December release date is set in stone, no other information is known. The new title, Everybody Loves Jenifa, alludes to a possible return to the franchise's fundamental components, which have contributed to its success.
Akindele is in charge of the creative team, so audiences can expect funny scenarios and the return of well-known characters.
Jenifa’s Diary has been a major Nigerian television show since its debut in 2015. The series centers around the main character played by Akindele and features Folarin "Falz" Falana, Lolo, Juliana Olayode, Lota Chukwu, Paschaline Alex Okoli, and the late Aderounmu Adejumoke.
The movie was nominated for four Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009 including, Best Original Soundtrack, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and Best Nigerian Film. For her performance in this movie, Akindele took home the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
