Caverton Marine Limited, a prominent Nigerian marine logistics company, has forged a strategic alliance with ExploMar (Suzhou) Energy Technology Co. Ltd. of China.

This partnership represents a crucial stride towards sustainable transportation in Nigeria, as Caverton Marine incorporates electric outboard engines from ExploMar into its newly launched passenger ferries, aptly named OMIBUS.

Caverton Marine, a Nigerian company, has recently inaugurated the OMIBUS ferries for the Lagos State government, aiming to revolutionise water transportation in the region.

By equipping these ferries with ExploMar's advanced electric outboard systems, Caverton Marine is enhancing operational efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

Additionally, a pilot programme was launched to assess operating expenses, highlighting the significant impact of the fuel subsidy removal on ferry ticket costs, emphasising the need for alternative, more affordable and eco-friendly propulsion systems.

This partnership between Caverton Marine and ExploMar demonstrates a dedication to sustainable innovation.

ExploMar's electric outboard engines will substantially lessen the environmental impact of the ferries, contributing to cleaner waterways and air quality in Lagos.

ExploMar's cutting-edge electric outboard systems are engineered for high performance and dependability. These engines will enhance the operational efficiency of the ferries, providing quieter and more cost-effective options compared to conventional fossil fuel engines.

ExploMar’s CEO, Alex Dong, said , “We are thrilled to collaborate with Caverton Marine on this groundbreaking project. The ferries equipped with our electric outboard systems will serve as a model for sustainable marine transport, not just in Nigeria but across Africa.

"The partnership was born out of our proactive engagement, recognising the need for innovative solutions in Nigeria and across Africa.

This collaboration promises to deliver substantial benefits, including reduced operational costs, enhanced passenger experience, and a positive environmental impact.”

Caverton Marine Limited is a subsidiary of Caverton Offshore Support Group, providing marine logistics services to local and international oil and gas companies in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Established in 1999, Caverton Marine has grown to become one of the largest and most reliable offshore support logistics companies, known for its commitment to innovation and quality.

ExploMar (Suzhou) Energy Technology Co. Ltd. is a pioneering ecological company founded in 2021, dedicated to electrifying water transportation.
