Netflix has officially announced that Season 4 of the widely popular Bridgerton series will be centered around Benedict.
Benedict Bridgerton is the second son of Viscountess Violet Bridgerton in the Victorian-era historical novels by American romance author Julia Quinn.
The viscountess had eight children with her late husband whom she dearly loved.
Shonda Rhimes acquired the rights to adapt the series for the screen after being captivated by the eight-part book series.
For those unfamiliar with the excitement among fans about Benedict taking the spotlight, in Quinn’s book series, Benedict’s story comes after Anthony’s and precedes Daphne’s – the first daughter of the Bridgerton family. However, in the screen adaptation, Colin’s story was shown before Benedict’s.
Fans of Quinn’s books are uncertain and somewhat worried about how much the series writers will alter Benedict’s storyline.
They were surprised to see the seemingly reserved character engaging in a threesome in the last season, especially after hints of his possible homosexuality in the first season.
Nevertheless, they are optimistic that Benedict will be portrayed alongside his main love interest from the books, Sophie, whose story resembles that of Cinderella.
This expectation arises from a specific detail in the Netflix trailer announcing Bridgerton 4.
