Biden Backs Israel Over Gaza Hospital Strike

POSTED ON October 18, 2023 •   World      BY Samuel O . Adeniyi •   VIEWS 77

President Joe Biden of the United States of America supports Israel on the devastating hospital strike in Gaza.

Biden made the defence during a solidarity visit to Israel today after the Palestine officials fingered Israel over the deadline bomb blast. The blast at the Al-Ahli al-Arabi hospital, which resulted in a high death toll, has been a point of contention between Israeli and Palestinian authorities. On Tuesday evening, the Al-Ahli al-Arabia hospital strike in Gaza sent shockwaves through the region with 500 causalities reported killed in the attack. Palestinian officials claimed the blast was caused by an Israeli air strike. However, Israel in a counter-response presented evidence suggesting that the explosion was the result of a failed rocket launch by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group. Palestinian officials and Palestinians in Gaza firmly believe that Israel was responsible for the attack. They argue that the hospital was being used as a shelter for thousands of displaced Gazans and that there was no warning given for civilians to evacuate. On the other hand, Israel maintains that it was not responsible for the blast.

Biden's Support for Israel

He stated that based on the information he had seen, it appeared that the explosion was caused by the "other team" and not Israel. Biden emphasized the need to overcome the uncertainty surrounding the incident. Biden's support for Israel comes at a crucial time, as the country faces domestic criticism and ongoing conflict with Hamas. The President assured Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would continue to have Israel's back in its efforts to defend its people.

International Response

The hospital strike and the ensuing high death toll sparked condemnation and calls for a thorough investigation from world leaders. While some leaders refrained from assigning blame, others expressed concern and demanded clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Arab leaders who were scheduled to meet with President Biden in Jordan cancelled the summit in response to the hospital strike. The international community is closely watching the situation, urging all parties to exercise restraint and seek a peaceful resolution.

Implications of Biden's Visit

By expressing unequivocal support for Israel, Biden aimed to strengthen the alliance between the two countries and demonstrate the United States' commitment to its ally's security. Biden's call for unity against Hamas sends a clear message that the international community must unite to defeat the militant group. The President emphasized that Hamas does not represent all Palestinians and has brought suffering to the Palestinian people.

The Path to Peace

To achieve lasting peace in the region, it is crucial to address the underlying causes of the conflict and work towards a comprehensive solution. Efforts should be made to facilitate humanitarian aid to Gaza, which has been besieged and under an Israeli blockade for years. The international community, including the United States, must continue to engage in diplomatic initiatives and support dialogue between Israeli and Palestinian leaders. By fostering understanding and promoting a peaceful resolution, the path to peace can be paved.
