Paris Saint-Germain's forward, Kylian Mbappé has disclosed why the club failed to qualify for the Champions League Final.
In a closely contested tie, PSG succumbed to a 2-0 aggregate defeat after losing 1-0 in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League played at Parc des Princes, France.
Speaking on the defeat, Mbappé said he should be blamed for their semi-final defeat against Borussia Dortmund.
Mbappé acknowledged his role in the disappointing result and admitted that missed chances, including some of his own, contributed to their downfall.
Despite dominating possessions with almost 70 per cent and the unleashed 30 shots in the second leg, PSG failed to find the back of the net and hit the woodwork four times.
"I tried to help my team as best as I could but I didn't do enough," Mbappé confessed.
Reflecting on his performance, the French forward emphasized his responsibility to score goals and make decisive contributions to the team.
"When we talk about being efficient in the boxes, I think I'm the one targeted. I'm the guy who should score goals and be decisive," Mbappé remarked.
Acknowledging the highs and lows of football, Mbappé gracefully accepted the criticism, recognizing that with success comes scrutiny.
"The first one who should have scored tonight was me. That's life, and we have to move on, me and the team," Mbappé stated following the match at Parc des Princes.
Despite the disappointment, Mbappé's accountability and determination to bounce back reflect PSG's resilience as they look ahead to future challenges in both domestic and European competitions.
