The Falconets of Nigeria have bowed out of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia after losing to Japan.
Nigeria team lost to Japan by 2 goals to 1, with Olushola Sobowale goal of consolation in the strategic move while Goodness Osigwe’s crossed into the box.
The Japanese took the lead in the first half that was bereft of chances with Miyu Matsunaga converting from Rihona Ujihara’s pass in the 33rd minute.
In the second half, the game maintained the same tempo as Nigeria allow their opponents to control the game and dictate plays.
It didn’t take long before Japan added another through Maya Hijjikati in the 63rd minute.
However, Nigeria tried to add a second to take the match into extra time, it was already late as Japan ran off winners.
It's another end to a campaign for the Falconets who have not gone past this round since they lost in the finals to Germany in 2014.
