UCL Semi-Final: Neuer Devastated After Costly Error Leads to Bayern Defeat

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer expressed deep disappointment following his critical error that allowed Real Madrid to force a comeback victory in the Champions League semi-final second leg.

The UEFA Champions League second leg between the Los Blancos (The Whites) and the Bavarians was held at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Madrid, Spain on Tuesday. 

While Bayern Munich held Real Madrid to a 2-2 draw at Allianz Arena Stadium, Munich, Bavaria, Germany, they lost their chance at the UCL final in the second leg. 

Neuer's fumble gifted Real Madrid an equalizer in the 88th minute, with substitute Joselu converting a weak effort from Vinicius Jr. Joselu then scored again to seal a 2-1 victory for Real Madrid, sending them to the final against Borussia Dortmund and ending Bayern's hopes of a Champions League title.

"Anyone who's ever played football knows how I'm feeling right now," Neuer told DAZN. "That we've been knocked out in the closing stages, having led 1-0 until the 88th minute, it's extremely bitter."

Bayern, who had taken the lead through Alphonso Davies in the second half, seemed poised for victory until Neuer's costly mistake.

"We'd taken one step to London, we saw ourselves in the final and now I'm lost for words," a visibly dejected Neuer added.
