British singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran has revealed a surprising source for his chart-topping smash "Shape of You."
Ed Sheeran has revealed that Barbadian singer Rihanna inspired the song.
The revelation emerged as Sheeran discussed the creative process behind "Shape of You," which enthralled audiences when it was released on January 6th, 2017.
Sheeran revealed that Rihanna was the major character he envisioned when writing the song's lyrics and music.
Sheeran said: Rihanna is genre-less, she can do anything. She’s the grail for songwriters. When I wrote Shape Of You, the person I was writing in my mind for was Rihanna,”
The popular song “Shape Of You” garnered widespread commercial success, earning Ed Sheeran the prestigious Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
