Seven teenagers have been arrested by the police in Adamawa for allegedly gang-raping a 15-year-old girl in Kodomun village. The incident occurred in the Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, which is located in the Northeast region of Nigeria.
According to the state police command's spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya, the teenagers lured the victim to the house of one of them, who is reportedly her boyfriend, and took turns raping her.
The suspects were identified as Ephraim Emmanuel (17), Madapwa Fidelis (17), Paka Albert (16), Jude Shido Aventi (18), Harmony Manade (18), Napwanwa Nahim Edmanth (16), and Manbiah Ojes (16), all residents of Kodomun village. They were arrested on Sunday.
The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Demsa by a concerned citizen. The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.
The police have advised parents to be watchful of their children, especially the girl child, against criminal-minded elements who are roaming about seeking who to take advantage of. The police assured the Adamawa State Government and the public of their unrelenting effort to put an end to all forms of Gender-Based Violence and assured immediate prosecution.
