Renowned prankster, Zfancy has been released by the police after a week in detainment.
According to a police statement issued on Wednesday, July 10, he was given bail and released into the custody of the Practitioners of Content Creation, Skit-Making, and Influencers Guild of Nigeria.
Zfancy was initially arrested on July 3 at an Abuja apartment for reportedly making hoax videos depicting him committing serious crimes, including rape.
On July 4, the police confirmed in a statement that Zfancy was arrested in connection with one of his hoax films.
However, it was eventually uncovered that the films were produced and scripted, indicating that the prankster's motives were solely entertainment-related.
Following his release, Zfancy received a formal warning from the authorities, telling him not to pull any further pranks that could disrupt public order or provoke unrest.
"Earlier today, July 10, 2024, at Force Headquarters, Mr. Zion Ubani, nicknamed Zfancy, was released on bond to the Executive Committee of the Practitioners of Content Creation, Skit-Making, and Influencers Guild of Nigeria (PCCSIGN).
The group was led by Mr. Tokoni Peter Igoin, Special Assistant to the President for ICT Development and Digital Innovations.
