Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has refuted rumors circulating online that he was detained at a United Kingdom airport.
Instead, he clarified that he was simply stopped for a routine immigration check. Previously, there were reports that Obi was held for several hours by UK immigration officials at Heathrow Airport in London.
However, during an interview with Arise TV on Monday evening, Obi reiterated that he was never arrested and that the check only lasted for less than 20 minutes.
Obi has clarified that he underwent a routine immigration check in the UK due to suspicions that his identity had been duplicated by someone. He emphasized that he received VIP treatment and was not detained during the process.
According to him, "I was treated with respect and was able to go through the VIP process, and the entire check took less than 20 minutes."
