The Oyo State Government has closed six health establishments for hiring unqualified personnel.
The government revealed this in a statement made available to media on Thursday.
The state administration stated that the impacted facilities were closed owing to a variety of offenses, including the hiring of unqualified staff to perform medical services and engaging in illegal procedures.
The affected health facilities, according to the statement include, “New Jobi Memorial Hospital, Omolara Clinic and Maternity Home, Amazing Grace Medical Clinic, Emiloju Clinic and Maternity Centre, Safeway Clinic, and Emilagba Clinic and Maternity Centre.”
Chairman of the State Antiquackery Task Force Committee, Dr. Adekunle Aremu added that the team carried out the operation to protect the "health and well-being of residents, as part of the government's efforts."
He stressed that anyone found guilty will face the full extent of the law.
The Chairman also encouraged the public to seek assistance from recognized and registered health establishments in the state.
While also stressed the significance of having only qualified staff attend to their medical requirements.
He said; “The goals remain clear, Oyo State government is dedicated to upholding rigorous standards and prioritizing the health and safety of every resident.
“The government ensures that healthcare services consistently meet the highest benchmarks for quality and safety, so citizens can trust their well-being,”
The state government earlier sealed off two private hospitals in Oyo town, restating there is no room for quackery and other illegalities in the state.
The illegal hospitals sealed up by the state Hospital Monitoring Task Force were Wise and Pearl Hospital Limited, Akeetan-Tuntun and Living Stone Clinic and Maternity, Idi-Ose, Alaafin High School, Oyo town.
