Alica Schmidt, the German sprinter who has been dubbed as the ‘world’s sexiest athlete’ by some media outlets, has challenged Manchester City star Erling Haaland to a race after competing at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Alica claimed a silver medal in the 4x400m relay competition at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships and a bronze medal in the same event at the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships. She became well-known after posting videos from the Olympic Village during the 2021 Tokyo Summer Games. She was voted 2017's "Sexiest Athlete in the World" by the website Busted Coverage. Alica Schmidt's Performance at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, Budapest
At the ongoing 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Alica Schmidt finished fourth in her heat of the women's 400m with a time of 52.12 seconds. She qualified for the semi-finals as one of the fastest losers. She ran in the semi-finals of the women’s 400 meters and finished sixth in her semi-final with a time of 52.28 seconds. She also ran in the final of the women’s 4x400 meters relay, and helped the German team win the bronze medal with a time of 3:24.56 minutes. https://www.instagram.com/p/CwIW1bUM85i/The 24-year-old German athlete, who is also a model and an influencer with over 4million followers on Instagram, thrashed 2014 World Cup winner and Borussia Dortmund centre back Mats Hummels in a 400m race two years ago. The German athlete was victorious with relative ease.

While Haaland now plays for Manchester City, Alica is a die-hard supporter of Borussia Dortmund, Haaland's former team. She wishes she could keep up with Haaland on the track because she is impressed by his speed and goal-scoring prowess.

She had confidently challenged Haaland to know who is faster. So, when asked if she could beat Haaland in the race, the German athlete replied:
'Hmm, I don't know - maybe. I think, on 400m, yes. On 200m, it would be more difficult. But I would be happy if the race takes place.'She was then quizzed on when the race might happen, and replied:
