Oyo Poll: PDP Emerges Victory in 33 LG Seats

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State has successfully won all the chairmanship seats in the 33 local government areas of the state.

The local government election was conducted on Saturday by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission.

The OYSIEC, Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), who announced the results of the poll on Sunday at the OYSIEC’s secretariat in Ibadan, said the PDP won in all 33 LGs.

Olagunju, who expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to the successful outcome of the election, said: “Of course, we are not perfect. There are areas of improvement. Anyhow, we promise you that it will reflect in our report to the government. If he hasn’t shown commitment and dedication and support, we wouldn’t be where we are.”

Also speaking shortly the official declaration of the result, the Ibadan North-East Chairman-elect, Akintayo Akinsola, affirmed that “The election was really peaceful, it was free, fair and credible.

The official election results declared by OYSIEC showed that the PDP polled 66,325 votes at Akinyele Local Government Area while the All Progressives Congress recorded 3,477 votes.

Details of the poll

The PDP won the North-East Local Government Area chairmanship with 17,920  while At Ibadan South-East Local Government Area, the PDP won the election, having polled 22, 220 votes while the APC received 4, 265 votes.

The PDP also won the chairmanship of Ibadan North Local Government Area with 73, 240 votes, with the APC coming behind with 5,548 votes.

The chairmanship of Lagelu Local Government Area was clinched by the PDP with 65, 786 votes , while the APC polled 4,172 votes. Also, Akeem Olatunji won the chairmanship of Oluyole Local Government Area with 17,063 votes while APC received 3,536 votes.

Also, the PDP received 25, 702 votes to win the chairmanship in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, while the APC polled 5,978 votes.

At Orire Local Government Area, the PDP emerged as the chairmanship winner with 15,301 votes, and the APC received 5,579 votes.
