Bola Tinubu, the incoming president of Nigeria, has received a plea from Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, not to let down the people.
The Yoruba monarch's congratulatory message to Tinubu was made public on March 1 by Otunba Moses Olafare, the director of media and public affairs for his palace.
The statement reads:
"Your Excellency, on behalf of the whole Oduduwa race globally, let me congratulate you and your lovely wife on your victory in becoming the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"You are undoubtedly a man of destiny, a game-changer, and a forward-thinking workaholic who has diligently employed the proper strategy and tactics to support the validity of your recorded success.
"Please don't let down Nigerians and the people of Africa as a pragmatic leader and manager of resources with the necessary demonstrated capacity to lead this nation to an enviable position within the global council of nations," said Ooni.
“As the tested and trusted team leader that you are, you must in a couple of days present your transition team of cerebral men and women to give us an economic recovery blueprint as Nigerians can not wait to be liberated from the unbearable economic hardship that has bedevilled the country in the recent times.
“Nigerians have voted for you because you promise a ‘Renewed Hope” and you must swiftly from your first day in office come May 29th 2023 set the ball rolling in a manner that will further assure Nigerians of the ‘Renewed Hope’. Ooni said.
