Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico first woman president-elect on Monday vowed she would not let the people of Mexico down after being elected into power.
“I won’t fail you,” the ruling party candidate said after preliminary official results showed her with around 58-60 per cent of votes.
Sheinbaum, 61, owes much of her popularity to Lopez Obrador, a fellow leftist and mentor who has an approval rating of more than 60 percent but is only allowed to serve one term.
