Tembu Ebere, a Nigerian man who attempted to cry for 100 hours to set the Guinness World Record (GWR), has gone blind.
Ebere told the BBC that he began to experience severe headaches, puffy eyes, and a swollen face from the constant crying. He also went temporarily blind for 45 minutes.
Despite these health problems, Ebere said he is still determined to cry for one week nonstop to win GWR for longest crying. He said, "I had to re-strategize and reduce my wailing."
Ebere's attempt to cry for 100 hours is part of a recent trend in Nigeria of people attempting to set unusual world records.
Two weeks ago, another Nigerian woman, Joyce Ijeoma, collapsed during a 72-hour longest-body massage attempt.
It is unclear whether Ebere will be able to complete his 100-hour cry-a-thon. However, his determination to set this unusual world record is certainly impressive.
