Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo discusses the potential for Nigeria's advancement, including the likelihood of an Igbo becoming president.
He described the concept of "Igbophobia" as a mere fancy, emphasizing that it is a barrier to the country's progress.
He stated that an Igbo president would promote economic development and unity.
In a recent episode of "The Honest Bunch," Kanayo O Kanayo talked about what it means to be Igbo and Nigerian and praised the Igbo people's entrepreneurial drive, ability to thrive, and contributions to the country's economy.
Kanayo also addressed the issue of state of origin, suggesting its abolition to promote unity and merit-based opportunities.
In his words: “We are the only people. Give it to us because we call every place we come home. We are not looking for an Igbo president. We are looking for a president of Igbo extraction who will give Nigeria what he has and what God has given him.
“The fear of the Igbo man that ‘in 1967, Ojukwu declared a succession, if you give them that opportunity again they will secede,’ is only imaginary.
“The day you give an Igbo man the presidency of this country, that is the day Nigeria will discover why it is Nigeria. Economically, people would begin to say Hallelujah.”
