The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development stated on Monday that the implementation of helicopter landing fees aligns with global best practices and aims to recover costs.
This was announced by Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press and Public Affairs of the ministry in Lagos.
Oluseyi emphasized the ministry's recognition of the significance of helicopter operations in Nigeria's aviation industry and its dedication to adhering to international best practices in helicopter operations.
He noted that helicopter landing fees are common in countries like the US, the United Kingdom, India, and other regions worldwide.
Mr. Oluseyi also highlighted the implementation of helicopter landing fees at Tallahassee International Airport in Florida under Vector Airport Systems since October 1, 2022.
He mentioned that helicopter landing fees are prevalent across airfields in the United Kingdom and vary based on factors such as location and services provided.
He explained that these fees typically match or exceed those for fixed-wing aircraft.
