The discharge certificate that Peter Mbah, the next governor of Enugu State, is waving about, according to Brig Gen YD Ahmed, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, was not granted by the organization.
The argument over whether Mbah has a valid NYSC certificate or not did not arise, according to Brig Gen Ahmed, who made an appearance on Friday's episode of Arise TV's breakfast show. This is because the general informed the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate in the 2023 governorship elections that the certificate he had presented was fake.
"He came to me, so I called my director to confirm the certificate, and we found out it was a fake, so I told him, "I'm curious about how elites who attended school will use certifications from the underground market.
"Everyone knows how we issue our certificate in NYSC, we don't give it in hotel rooms or houses," the DG remarked.
Peter Mbah, the next governor of Enugu State, has launched a lawsuit against the NYSC and is seeking N20 billion in damages for injuries allegedly sustained as a result of the controversy surrounding his certificate.
Remember that the NYSC released a letter in response to a non-governmental organization's inquiry stating that the discharge certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission was not issued by them, which led to public awareness of the controversy surrounding Mbah's discharge certificate in February 2023.
