Nigerian street-pop artist Habeeb Badmus, aka Portable, was proclaimed the winner of the celebrity boxing match against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha on Wednesday.
The fight, which was sanctioned by Heritage Boxing Entertainment and staged at Landmark Beach in Victoria Island, Lagos State, began shortly after 1 a.m. and lasted approximately 40 minutes.
After Portable claimed contractual concerns, the couple engaged in a Twitter spat about a purported N40 million rip-off.
Portable alleged that Okocha defrauded him by only sending him a minimal sum, in violation of a contractual agreement.
He also took complete charge of the ring, looking to find his range from many jabs to Okocha's body, who was dressed in a red top and red shorts.
Okocha gained more ground than Portable did during the fight, and despite being in the lead, he was determined to score more points.
His jabs even knocked Portable down, necessitating the intervention of the referee.
Portable took advantage of various moments to return for the hits he was taking in round two.
The two celebrity boxers were exhausted by Round Four, but Portable was still firing direct punches that took Okocha off guard.
Meanwhile, when the referee called for Round Five to decide the winner, both of them declined to continue, and this led to the eventual announcement of Portable as the winner.
Although Portable did not win through TKO, KO, or even by points recorded, with his victory, he clinched the belt while solidifying his position as the deserving champion in the hard-fought bout.
