The Lagos State Government has unveiled the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority whistleblower application software application for the state citizens to report traffic violations.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, who made the formal introduction of the application during the inauguration held at the agency headquarter in Oshodi said, “The whistleblower app is aimed towards performing the role of LASTMA officials within the ambit of the law and its purpose is for Lagosians to ensure safety by utilising it to report accidents, dangerous driving, traffic violations, expired vehicles and bad road users. When you see these things, you can capture them and report them to us using the app.
“The app is available for download on Apple Store and Google Play Store and using its videos, citizens can record traffic problems, damaged traffic lights and traffic congestion and send them to us. We have created a data centre here and our officers here will respond to these traffic infractions and LASTMA personnel will be deployed to the site.”
Also, the state Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said, “Through the whistleblower app, there would be some sort of recognition for those who report and we will prevent it from being abused, otherwise we will lose the objective of what we want to achieve.
“We will ensure that the complaints sent to the app in form of photos and videos are verifiable before actions will be taken and bonus points are awarded to users.”
