The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, has met with the Indonesian Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, in Jakarta to emphasise the importance of strengthening cooperation between the GCC and Indonesia to bolster economic ties and serve mutual interests.
They signed a joint statement to initiate GCC-Indonesia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations.
Both sides highlighted that the FTA would establish a solid foundation for expanding trade and investment, fostering cooperation, and creating new job opportunities.
Albudaiwi stated that the signing of the joint statement aligned with the directives of the GCC leaders to strengthen ties with international partners, and the initial round of negotiations is expected to begin this year and conclude within 24 months.
