FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on Friday that the organization will seek independent legal advice regarding the Palestinian Football Association's (PFA) call to suspend Israel's football association (IFA) over events in Gaza.
Infantino stated that FIFA will convene an extraordinary session of its ruling council before July 20 to review the legal analysis and determine the appropriate course of action.
The Israeli Football Association has condemned the Palestinian demands, calling them a"cynical attempt" to "harm Israeli football."
IFA chief Shino Moshe Zuares addressed a FIFA meeting in Bangkok, amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza, asserting that "the proposal submitted by the PFA has nothing to do with the IFA and its activity."
The situation highlights the complex political and humanitarian issues intertwined with sports, and FIFA's decision will be closely watched by the international community.
