The IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's family has suspended the representation of his two attorneys while he is in custody.
The younger brother of the secessionist, Kanunta Kanu, revealed this in a tweet on Thursday, claiming that Kanu's attorneys, Prof. Mike Ozekhome SAN and Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had been fired.
He claimed that the change came about as a result of the lawyers' inability to visit their client who was being held in the Department of State Services, DSS Headquarters Abuja.
Kanunta also claimed that the attorneys had prevented medical professionals from seeing the secessionist in the DSS's care.
"After Nnamdi Kanu's case on May 11, 2023, Prof. Mike Ozekhome SAN refused to meet with his client at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, despite repeated requests from MNK to do so," the man stated.
"Second, for delaying the medical professionals who were scheduled to evaluate MNK on June 5 despite the fact that both he and Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor received proper notice on June 2 and MNK instructed them to notify his family to make arrangements.
"Prof. Mike Ozekhome SAN and Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor are therefore fired as Nnamdi Kanu's Counsels for those apparent reasons and many more.
"The Kanu family appreciates your time and work so far; kindly deliver the legal papers as soon as possible."
